                IE 5.0: Standards nicht erfüllt

Wer daran gewöhnt ist, dass die eigenen Standards die allgemein
gültigen sind, hat mit allgemeinen Standards so seine
Schwierigkeiten. Der neue Internet Explorer 5.0 unterstützt weder
XML noch Cascading Style Sheets, das Web Standards Project
findet dies nicht so gut. Netscape hat den relaunch seines 5.0er
Browsers verschoben, um den Standards zu genügen.

...
"We realize that many business considerations go into selecting a
release date, but we wish Microsoft had delayed Internet Explorer
5.0's release to focus on getting standards support right," said
George Olsen, project leader of the Web Standards Project.

The 7,000-member coalition was launched last August by a group of
Web developers frustrated with costly workarounds and debugging
involved with building Web sites that can be viewed by all browsers,
according to Olsen.
...
Olsen said he applauded Netscape Communications Corp.'s pledge
to delay the release of Communicator 5.0 to ensure that the browser
offers 100% support of cascading style sheets, document object
model and Extensible Markup Language (XML), which Explorer 5.0
currently doesn't support.
...
"We'd just like to see all the browser makers actually implement all
the standards that the [World Wide Web Consortium] has
developed," Olsen said. "If that were to happen, basically you could
build a site once and know that it would work across multiple
browsers."
